Robert's Little House

aperiodic ammann a5 tiles

Aperiodic Ammann A5 tiles
This tiling of Robert Ammann (A5) does not have the possibility of representing it by figurative tiles. But it is so ingenious that I want to let you know it. First it is a set of only 2 tiles: a square and a rhombus. They have connecting lines like other tiles, but above all markers in the shape of a square, triangle and set of 2. The lines allow you to find your way around but are not essential. In addition, with the lines alone, you have the possibility of making periodic tiling. While with the geometric markers, you can only do aperiodic tiling. And for that, among the multiple possible figures at the junction of the tiles, only a house must imperatively be represented. Splendid !
